| Welcome Shambhala Meditation Center of Albany is part of an international community of urban meditation and rural retreat centers founded by Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche.
Our center, located at 879 Madison Ave in Albany offers public meditation, free meditation instruction, a core curriculum of Buddhist and Shambhala teachings, as well as training in advanced contemplative practices.
Shambhala Meditation Center is a nonprofit, volunteer organization.

Ongoing Programs
Please join us for weekly meditation practice, every Thursday evening,7-8 p.m. For newcomers, we offer free meditation instruction the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m.
WEEKLY SITTING PRACTICE

Sessions include sitting meditation, a reading, and walking meditation.
Often on the third Thursday of the month maitri bhavana, a practice for the sick and dying is included.

Taught by our qualified instructors, this basic meditation class and introduction to the center is for beginners, as well as anyone who would like to refresh their understanding of the technique.
Meditation instruction is not just for "new" meditators, instruction is also recommended as part of our ongoing practice. You are always welcome to come in and speak to an instructor about your regular practice and you may even ask to form a working relationship with the instructor of your choice. The evening will include detailed sitting meditation instruction, question and answer periods and refreshments. Cushions, meditation benches and chairs are provided.
